For the fourth time this year Cork and Limerick go head-to-head. A repeat of the 2025 final where it finished level after extra time 1-30 to 2-27 and then Cork won on penalties 3-2. That was Cork’s first Munster hurling title since 2018 and they will now look to go and win another one in quick succession.

Cork
The league final was one that Cork would rather not remember as Limerick got the better of them 1-27 to 1-21. Alan Connolly (0-07) and Brian Hayes (1-03) top scored for Cork in the league final, but it wasn’t enough for success in the end.
Since the league final Cork have upped their game considerably with victory over Tipperary and then a much-needed moral boosting one over Limerick on Sunday 26th April. They followed that up with a win over Waterford on the 9th May where they won by four points in the end down in Azzurri Walsh Park, Waterford. Hard fought win in the end but a game that helped them along nicely.
The last time we seen them in action was against Clare on May 24th and it was a superb performance from start to finish. They dismantled Clare 1-30 to 1-14 with a minimum of fuss and pushed themselves into a provincial decider. Alan Connolly was immense once again from placed balls and grabbed himself 0-11 with eight of them coming from frees. Shane Barrett (0-08) and Brian Hayes (1-02) were also quite solid throughout the game and contributed in the victory for the Rebels.

Limerick
Limerick will arrive into their eight successive provincial title and come here on a revenge mission after the way last years final went.
The Munster campaign for them this year has been exceptional apart from the slight blip against Cork. The three victories they had came against Clare, Waterford and then they found the net five times in a 5-27-to-0–25-point victory over Tipperary at the Gaelic Grounds.
Four points between the sides at the break but Limerick upped the pace and power in the second half and ran out very easy winners in the end to set them up nicely for this weekend. Aaron Gillane with (2-00), Aidan O’Connor with (2-07) and Diarmaid Byrnes with (1-03) for himself helped things along.
They go into this weekends game in top form and if the likes of Aaron Gillane and Aidan O’Connor attack with similar ferocity then it will make for an excellent game.
2026 Munster Hurling Final Verdict
Both sides have hit form at the right time and going by the way last years game went we could be in line for another battle that goes all the way. Alan Connolly v Aidan O’Connor on placed balls for each side will no doubt swing it one way or the other. A very tough game to call so we will go for the draw.
Verdict: Draw (15/2)
