Money for the Daisy Hitchins-trained Powerful Act would be interesting in the bumper that opens the card. He cost only 6,000gns but he is by Kingman and his dam won a Group 2 race at York and a Group 3 race in Meydan. Dr Richard Newland’s UNBROKEN SPIRIT cost 9,000gns but is a half-brother to four flat winners that include a French Group 3 winner that won on his debut. Connections paid €34,000 for the Olly Murphy-trained Burk Flight as a store horse in June 2025. His dam won over fences and his grand-dam won at Grade 1 level over hurdles.

Selection: Unbroken Spirit

A four-time flat winner, ANALOGICAL ran with promise on his hurdling debut, when third at Uttoxeter. He raced keenly there but should have learned a lot from the experience. Trained by Ben Pauling, The Perfect Poet won a bumper at Fontwell on his bumper debut and was then stepped up to Grade 2 company (unplaced). He makes his hurdling debut today. Soldier Poet runs for the first time since a breathing op. Rated 84 on the flat, Raulin is surely better than his hurdling debut effort last time out and he can’t be ruled out of a good run.

Selection: Analogical

A modest contest and a headscatcher in terms of trying to find the winner. Little Lady Lucy at least knows how to win a race, which only three in the contest can say, although she lacks a recent run. It would be no surprise to see Lets Go Mo improve for a breathing op and Everest has run some of her best races here, including when winning on the flat in March. Finally, his form of two years ago would give CHOSEN HERO a good chance, and he will be running for James Owen, who’d had 13 winners since Oct 19 going into Tuesday’s racing, for the first time.

A tricky race. Touquet and Superstylin lack recent runs but look sure to win races this season. Away For The Night arrives in good heart. Granny Hawkins is bred for this game and immediately goes over fences for her new trainer. Poncho, Anariza and Vivre Le Reve are other chasing debutants. A half-brother to Grade 2 and 3 chase winner Westerner Lady, MYRIGHTHANDMAN should have learned plenty from his chasing debut last time. Reteti can also build on his chasing debut last time.

Selection: Myrighthandman

Calshot Spit won here over 2m1.5f last Dec when rated 100 and is now rated 99. Fit from the flat, it’s not difficult to build a case for a good run. With a good 5lb-claimer on board, MARKET HOUSE looks reasonably competitive from his current rating. Twice a winner in February, Cooler Than Me has it to prove just now from his new rating. Just Aidan won off 82 at Wincanton in March and will run here off 84 so can’t be ruled out.

Selection: Market House

Jonjo and Anthony O’Neill run MERSEY STREET here. He is rated 91 and won at Fontwell in May rated 90. A recent pipe-opener should have helped with fitness and sharpness and he looks set to go well. Trained locally, Onewayortother ran well on his first start over fences last year, which came off a break, and he will be running off a break today, too. Money for him would boost confidence. The stable of Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies has made a decent start to the campaign and they run A Great Excuse. He won here over 2 miles when rated 97 last December and arrives here rated 100 and has had a breathing operation since his last run. A good run would be no surprise.
