15:00 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2)

ARAPAHO GOLD has been a revelation for the Michael Dods team this season, unbeaten in three starts and landed a listed event at Newbury last time. The runner up has come out and won since, the third has finished second since, the fourth was third in a Listed event at Deauville on his next start and the fifth has also franked the form by running fourth in the Molecomb at Glorious Goodwood.

Conor Beasley, who was aboard last time, was very complimentary after the race and he was quoted by Sky Sports Racing as saying, “He’s a horse we’ve always liked. I think he’s only going to get better after this because he’s learned plenty today. I really like him and hopefully he can continue on that upward curve.”

Selection: Arapaho Gold

15.35 Coolmore City Of Troy Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1)

Wesley Ward, who had the runner-up in the Nunthorpe in 2015 and 2017, will be looking to go one place better with BACIO, who is unbeaten in three starts and produced a scintillating performance to win the Palace Of Holyroodhouse (Handicap) at Royal Ascot last time out. With York a speed track and likely to favour runners from the front, you could see Juan Hernandez pop out from stall five and use the pace that the American speedball has. He could prove very hard to beat here. Three-year-olds don’t have the strongest record in the race with just one in the last decade and Arizona Blaze was a beaten favourite in the race last year. Seven three-year-olds have been placed in the race since 2016.

Selection: Bacio

17:20 1m2f EBF Fillies’ Handicap

LADY DORA MAE, who started her career in Ireland with the stable of Fozzy Stack and is now in the care of George Boughey, has had some solid runs in defeat of late, finishing second in four of her last five starts. The most recent came in a listed event at Clairefontaine, where she was beaten half a length, and the booking of Ryan Moore catches the eye back in a handicap. She ran in a handicap at Glorious Goodwood back at the end of July, and while keen, was briefly carried left close home. she stuck to her task well in the end. The handicap mark has risen from 74 to 97 since April time, but she still has improvement on the cards and could be involved in the finish.

Selection: Lady Dora Mae
