13.50 – £250,000 Lowther Stakes (Fillies’ Group 2, 6f)
A top-class renewal of the Lowther for 2026, and while Irish winners of this Group 2 race are few and far between, Joseph O’Brien looks to have a very strong candidate in STAR OF STATE.
This filly carries the colours of Jaber Abdullah and she finished second to Livenka on debut, but then routed rivals at Leopardstown back on the 16th of July. Livenka went on to win the valuable Ballyhane Stakes at Naas on her next start.
The quotes post-Leopardstown on STAR OF STATE were very complimentary: “She looks a very exciting filly. Dylan said she’s got plenty of pace for six (furlongs) and he thinks she’ll probably have no trouble with seven. I think there’s lots to look forward to. Mr. Jaber mentioned that we might go to the Lowther next month, so I suppose we’ll see how she pulls up and then we’ll make those plans”.
It looks like a plan has been in place and, with improvement to come, she’s an interesting runner.
Selection: Star Of State (5/2)

15.35 – £600,000 Legends Global Yorkshire Oaks (Fillies And Mares, 3yo+, Group 1, 1m 3f 188y)
We mentioned a top-class renewal of the Lowther, but the feature Yorkshire Oaks is one of the best races on the Knavesmire this week.
While there will be much talk around the runners at the top end of the market, the overlooked filly might be TATTYCORAM. She won the Lancashire Oaks at Newmarket last time seeing off subsequent Group One winner Tiffany by four-and-a-half lengths, breaking the track record in doing so.
Jockey Edward Greaterex was complimentary after the race, and he will keep the ride on Thursday. “She skipped off the fast ground and there’s no reason why she can’t go up in class, although those decisions are above my pay grade. She feels like a mile-and-a-half filly at the moment, so there’s no need to go up in trip just yet. But she won well.”
If she comes on again for that run, then double-figure prices may not last too long.
Selection: Tattycoram (18/1)
16.10 – British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes (Fillies And Mares Listed)
Starman is a sire who took all before him last season and his daughter WITHOUT PREJUDICE will be looking to take the step up from a maiden victory into listed class here.
She is owned by Lord (Andrew) Lloyd Webber, who has had many a smart filly in his colours and this might be another one. Dar Re Mi and So Mi Dar would be two of the standouts in these colours, and while Without Prejudice will have to go some to get to their standard, she was impressive on her debut.
Niggled along from six -and four-furlongs down, she was clear inside the final furlong and stretched out nicely in the end.
Track, trip and ground should be ideal here and she could take the step up in class in her stride.
The analysis section of the Racing Post was quite complimentary after the race, “A 240,000gns yearling and half-sister to three winners including dual 1m4f Group 1 winner Emily Upjohn, (she) showed signs of greenness on her debut but there was plenty to like about the way she finished off her race, pulling clear of a rival who’d shown a useful level of ability in winning on her debut. She’s one to keep on side“.
