Alan Marron is back for Day Two of the Galway Festival.
It was nice to get on the score-sheet yesterday as Pivotal Trigger (2/1) made all under an inspired ride from Shane Foley, who enjoyed a treble alongside trainer Jessica Harrington on the day.
That was the NAP landed for us.
Gaoth Chuil, in the opener, got a little outpaced and stayed on while Whiskey Sour was ridden quietly out the back and stayed on in the straight without getting into the placings.
Tuesday’s card is very competitive but I have hopefully found at least a couple of winners.

NAP 7.15 —- KARAKOUL —– TRAINER JOHNNY MURTAGH— JOCKEY SHANE B KELLY (2/1)
This colt looks the absolute standout in this race as he has some very strong form, most notably when he finished second behind Piz Badile in a Killarney maiden.
Piz Badile has since finished second to Westover in the Irish Derby. While that form has taken a couple of knocks since it looks more than enough to see Karakoul get off the mark.
On his penultimate run at the Curragh he finished fifth in a race that has worked out really well, with the second, Boundless Ocean, going on to land the Meld Stakes (Group 3) last time out. The 4th, 6th, 15th and 17th placed horses have all come out and won since to give the form a nice boost.
Johnny Murtagh looks to have found the perfect opportunity for this son of Fast Company, who will be running for the first time since a gelding operation, and I will be very disappointed should he not be involved in the finish.
NEXT BEST 6.10 — REMIND — TRAINER JOSEPH O’BRIEN—- JOCKEY DYLAN BROWNE MC MONAGLE (10/3)
My second selection of the day will come from the Barrier Trial academy at Dundalk. This filly landed a batch back on the fifth of July, where she saw off Perseids and Vittoria Collana.
Barrier Trials have proven to be very advantageous to many of Joseph O’Brien’s runners in recent times, most recently at Dundalk where we saw Illuminazione get the better of the higher-rated Honey Girl in a maiden, having run in a barrier trial a week previously.
Remind looked very straightforward in her trial, she was very quick out of the stalls for a debutante and travelled well in the lead. Dylan gave her an inch of rein just inside the two pole and she quickened away to win nicely by about a length and a half.
If she has improved off the back of that she should get involved in the finish from a nice berth in stall three.
EACH WAY 6.40 — SIRJACK THOMAS — TRAINER ADO MC GUINNESS — JOCKEY MIKEY SHEEHY (11/1)
My each way selection on the day comes in the very tricky feature on the night that is the Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap.
This horse is looking to repeat his electric victory in this race from last year when he was weak in the market but stormed up the hill for a three length success.
He has been quiet in recent times but Galway has a habit of sparking life into horses and this horse looks nicely handicapped if he can get some luck in running. He won this race off a mark of 90 a year ago and he gets in here off 89.
Ado Mc Guinness has farmed this race in recent years and there is no doubt that this has been the plan for this horse.
With luck in running he should be very hard to keep out of the frame.
