The Cambridgeshire was established in 1839, and the inaugural running was won by Lanercost. It was founded in the same year as another major handicap at Newmarket, the Cesarewitch. The two races came to be known as the Autumn Double.

13:22 7f. Flat Hcap (Class 2) 2-y-o
Stuart Williams and Marco Ghiani team up with the unbeaten POLYXENA and when she won last time out she looked like the step up to seven furlongs would be right up her street. She raced out wide and led early, headed after 1f, raced in second, pushed along over 2f out, ridden and disputed lead entering final furlong, led again inside final 110yds, ran on well. The debut form also showed her stamina in a decent light when winning by a head over six furlongs.
If stamina is her forte then she looks one of the main contenders here.

13:55 1m (Rowley) Tattersalls Online Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) (Class 1) (2yo)
This race last year was won by Bow Echo and he remained unbeaten until he was retired, winning the 2000 Guineas, St James´s Palace Stakes and Sussex Stakes on the way.
Andrew Balding won this race with The Foxes back in 2022 and Oisin Murphy plundered the prize aboard Roaring Lion back in 2017. They team up this year with QUICKEN AWAY in the colours of Saeed Suhail and his victory last time out was eye-catching. He was settled in front and made all at Goodwood and done as his name suggested and quickened away nicely from rivals. The sixth has come out and finished third since while the fourth has finished sixth since.
Oisin could look to be handy early and if he settles in front he could run a big race.

14:27 6f (Rowley) Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo)
Sun Goddess was a revelation at the Curragh last time out, but she has been kept busy this season and will only have a little under two weeks to get over the exertions of last time. SENORITA BONITA on the other hand has had a little over a moth off since victory at Deauville in the Prix Morny. She was impressive in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket prior to that and a repeat of either run should make her a tough filly to beat.
The RPR’s of both fillies are identical from their respective victories last time out and while it isn’t a match race they look the two main contenders.
15:00 6f (Rowley) Tattersalls Middle Park Stakes (Group 1) (Colts) (Class 1) (2yo)
Ace Stud have a new recruit on their hands with PUSH THE BOAT OUT and he looks an intriguing runner for Shane Foley and Michael O’Callaghan. He is unbeaten in two starts with both of those coming at the Curragh. He got into a bit of a battle with Great Barrier Reef last time but seen the race out strongly to lead in the closing stages and win going away.
If he improves again, he looks a classic type for next season, but connections will hope for a big run on Saturday first.
15:40 1m1f (Rowley) Cambridgeshire (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) (3yo+)
Ryan Moore and Brian Meehan will team up with BOURBON BLUES here and he looked a typical Cambridgeshire type following his victory at Doncaster last time out. He stormed home out wide from the back of the field under a power packed Ryan Moore ride. He will carry a four-pound penalty for victory at Doncaster, and he was a little more convincing than maybe the head winning margin would suggest. He was third in a Heritage Handicap prior to that, and a repeat of either run would see him in contention.

16:15 7f (Rowley) Blandford Bloodstock 25th Anniversary EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (GBB Race) (Class 2) (2yo)
Richard Hughes and Billy Loughnane team up with an unraced filly called QUEEN OF THE GULF and it would be no surprise to see her run a big race on debut. She is closely related to a 6f AW winner in Carmarthen and a half sister to winners London Is Blue and Under The Sea. The market will likely tell us plenty closer to race time, but Billy did guide America Queen in these colours to a twelve-length debut success at Haydock in July 2025.

16:50 7f (Rowley) Hunt Family Fund Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-105)
Ed Dunlop’s team could be coming into form at the right time; they had a winner this week in the hands of Billy Loughnane with Arundel. SUPERPOSITION is the Dunlop representative here with Rab Havlin in the saddle and its run off a mark of 92 last time wasn’t short of promise. The handicapper has been kind and dropped him a pound and he is a former Newmarket winner and that came off a mark of 90 back in May. With luck in running from stall four he could be tough to keep out of the frame.
