The Ayr Silver Cup, Firth Of Clyde and the Ayr Gold Cup are three of the feature races on the card and it could be another super Saturday for Saffie Osbourne.

14:30 6f Ayr Silver Cup Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+)

Trainer Richard Spencer and owner Phil Cunningham landed this prize last season with Candy and have another strong chance this season with RAPPER’S DELIGHT, who will have Saffie Osborne aboard. Blinkers will be applied for the first time, and while he only has one victory from eleven starts, he has run some solid races in defeat of late. He was second to his stablemate Twilight Calls at Newmarket on July 10, and Twilight Calls will be one of the leading fancies in the Ayr Gold Cup later on the card. The blinkers could work the oracle, and if they do, then you would expect him to be involved in the finish.

Selection: Rapper’s Delight

15:05 6f Firth Of Clyde (Challenge Cup) (Group 3) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo)

It could be a quick double on the card for the Richard Spencer and Saffie Osborne combination as they send STARBUSTER to post for the Fillies’ Group 3. She ran a nice race on debut behind Glorious Game at Windsor, and the winner has franked the form since by winning a listed race on second start. The third has won since, and the fifth has won twice since, so the form has a solid look to it.

Starbuster would get off the mark on second start when getting the better of Bidsta, and that form has already been boosted when Bidsta won this week at Yarmouth. The market will tell plenty about expectations, and the fact that this filly wore a hood to post on debut suggests she has ability, but she might be a little tricky.

Selection: Starbuster

15:40 6f Ayr Gold Cup (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) (3yo+)

As we mentioned in the 2.30 on the card, Rapper’s Delight has tied in form with TWILIGHT CALLS, who will be our selection here. Connections on this race last year with Run Boy Run, and they look to have another main contender here. Twilight Calls will be drawn in stall 19, and four of the last eight winners have won from a high draw.

A quick reappearance for this horse, who finished second in the Portland last Saturday at Doncaster to Air Force One and has only been raised two pounds by the handicapper for that. He will need pace on his side to get a toe into the race, and with Hammer The Hammer beside him in stall 20, I would expect him to go forward. With luck in running, hopefully he can be involved in the finish.
