This doesn’t look like the strongest race to start the card on the strand in County Meath and while the form of DISTILLATE has been a bit mixed, she could come back to her best here. She was a winner at this meeting last season and finished second at Dundalk off a mark of 54 in February. Her highest winning mark was 67 and even though it is a long time ago the course form here at Laytown could be key.

MOYASSR will be having its second start for the Adrian McGuiness team since leaving the yard of Paul Flynn and could go close here. A four-time winner at Dundalk over a mile suggests that the artificial surface is no bad thing for this runner so the beach could spark a little life back into him. The drop back in trip could be an issue but with Verhoyen in the race there will be plenty of pace and stamina could be a key attribute.

Local trainer Edward Lynam adds the tongue strap for the first time to his runner here COLLECTIVE POWER and it’s quite interesting that it will run off its turf mark of 69 here. It was last seen on the All Weather at Dundalk where it finished eighth in the BAR 1 Betting Mourne Handicap. The last three victories for this runner have come at Dundalk over six furlongs and will race over the same trip here. John Gleeson is a positive jockey booking and this runner should go close with luck in running.

Joseph O’Brien who will have a busy few days coming up at Doncaster, Leopardstown and at the Curragh, sends just one runner to the Meath venue with KAKORI taking her place here in the hands of Declan McDonogh. Nine runs for this filly have yielded two places and they have been on her last two runs suggesting she is coming into form at the right time. She was beaten a neck last time out and if she handles Laytown she should get her head in front.

Another local runner on the card is LOHENGRIN for the Eamon Delaney stable and this horse was a winner on the card last year when it won the maiden in the hands of Jordan Gainford. Last time out this runner hit top form when finishing third at Navan behind Nephin Mountain and Alto Sax and a repeat of that form should be enough. The handicapper has nudged him up three pounds in the weights, and the booking of Colin Keane also catches the eye. He has two winners from eleven mounts for this stable and a level stakes profit of +0.50.

Jody Townend who got a winner over hurdles earlier in the week at Galway will team up with Tony Martin with EN OR. A quick reappearance for this horse after finishing a staying on second behind Firebrand on Monday. This horse won over a mile and a quarter at Dundalk in December 2024 off a mark of 82 and gets in here off a three-pound lower mark. The handicap mark on the level has dropped from 91 a year ago to 82 now and this mark should be enough to see him get his head back in front.
