17:30 1m Optional Claiming Race

Cosmic Funk finished narrowly ahead of Go Out at Leopardstown, and there may be little to separate the pair again. The former is rated 2lb superior to Go Out and will be in receipt of a full stone from his rival under the terms of this race.

The Ger Lyons runner may prefer a softer surface, but he’s unexposed and potentially well treated based on his best handicap form.

Selection: Cosmic Funk

18:00 1m Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race (2yo)

South Dakota sets a strong standard after an excellent effort at Royal Ascot. Fourth on his debut at the Curragh, he was well supported into the market for the Listed Chesham Stakes over 7f and made late headway from the rear to finish fourth behind Nola Soul. He steps up in trip again here and could prove too strong for Venetian Power, who made an encouraging debut at the Curragh when finishing fourth behind three Ballydoyle runners.

Full Volume took a step forward when winning last time and is the obvious danger now moving up in grade. However, South Dakota was far from disgraced at Royal Ascot and, back in calmer waters, can take advantage of this drop in class.

Selection: South Dakota

18:30 1m Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden

Transcript sets the standard after a highly promising debut effort at Naas last month. He looked the likely winner for much of the race before being headed inside the final 50 yards, eventually going down by just half a length. He is entitled to improve for that experience and holds strong claims here.

Kalir (fourth) and Cello Sonata (fifth) were behind the Donnacha O’Brien-trained gelding the last day, so rate as the obvious contenders to follow the selection home.

The form of the Naas race has been boosted by the eighth-placed Highwayman, who won at Killarney on Monday night.

19:00 1m Listed Cairn Rouge Stakes

Green Carrera arrives on the back of a progressive sequence and looks capable of making her mark at this level. She narrowly landed a valuable fillies’ handicap at the Curragh on Irish Guineas weekend before producing a more decisive performance in the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot. Although she benefited from a favourable high draw at Ascot, her reappearance form has been strongly boosted, and she remains relatively unexposed over 1m. Her new rating gives her every chance of continuing her upward curve.

Selection: Green Carrera

19:30 1m Handicap

Bella Columbia looks capable of defying top weight after a consistent campaign. Both of her career wins have come at Dundalk, including over this trip in March, and she has continued to run well on turf since, most recently finishing runner-up to Pete’s Dream at Fairyhouse earlier this month. She is just 1lb above her last winning mark and has maintained a solid level of form on good ground throughout the year.

Selection: Bella Columbia

20:00 1m3½f Handicap

Young Churchill is rated 115 over hurdles but races off a mark of just 60, the same rating carried as when beaten a neck at Limerick just a few days ago. As long as this assignment doesn’t come too quickly, he’s in with a big chance.

Alto Sax has been in excellent form this year, winning twice after taking advantage of a basement mark, and he remains a threat from the same rating as when runner-up at Leopardstown last week. He should benefit from stepping back up in trip, having been given too much to do over this distance previously. He’s another one who has been heavily campaigned of late.

Arch Enemy is another to note, having been raised 10lb for her recent Navan success but gets in here with just a 7lb penalty, making her effectively well treated. Sam Coen also takes away a further 5lb in the saddle, so we’ll side with the Patrick Magee-trained mare.

Selection: Arch Enemy

20:30 1m6f Handicap

Sonic Invader looks ready to get off the mark after improving since stepping up in trip. He has finished placed on his last two handicap starts, including when third behind the versatile Ballyadam at Listowel, with Lagoon Nebula and Baila Conmigo (a recent Dundalk winner) behind. He remains open to further improvement and has proven competitive from higher marks.

The lightly-raced Lauderdale King may prove to be the chief threat.
