Course Form Crucial at Quail Hollow
The PGA Tour rolls on with the Truist Championship 2026, and as always, course form could prove the key angle when trying to find this week’s winner. The tournament runs from May 7-10.
With a familiar layout placing a premium on approach play, patience, and experience around these greens, it’s no surprise to see repeat contenders pop up on the leaderboard year after year.
We’ve picked out three players with strong course form who could be worth backing this week.
Previous Winners
Formerly known as the Wells Fargo Championship from 2011 to 2024, this event returns to Quail Hollow in 2026 after a one-year switch to Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course, with the move made to accommodate the PGA Championship being held at Quail Hollow the following week.
- 2025: Sepp Straka – The Philadelphia Cricket Club
- 2024: Rory McIlroy – Quail Hollow
- 2023: Wyndham Clark – Quail Hollow
- 2022: Max Homa – TPC Potomac at Avenal Farm
- 2021: Rory McIlroy – Quail Hollow

Three Tips with Course Form
RORY MCILROY (5/1) – Holds the record for the most wins in this event with four (2024, 2021, 2015 and 2010). Rory hasn’t played since he retained his green jacket at the US Masters but with another major close on the horizon, he looks one of the main contenders this week.
Along with the four wins, his record here is quite solid with seven top 10 finishes since 2010 also. He has only played seven times in 2026 so will arrive here relatively fresh and you would expect him to contend at the business end on Sunday evening.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE (17/2) – Has finished second here on two occasions in 2023 and 2024 and was T11 last year. Xander is another player who has been in consistent form of late with a third at The Players Championship and T9 at the Masters.
His driving has improved week on week, and this is an event that distance can be key. His approach play at the Masters was hot too and should be find consistency from tee to green then he is another who has form to win here.
COREY CONNERS (70/1) – Corey Conners has been getting the hang of things in this event in the last three years with three top 20 finishes. He has been catching the eye in 2026 with a top 20 finish at The Players Championship and at the Valspar and could be in line for another big performance this week.
He wouldn’t be overly long in terms of his driving distance but around the green he can be quite solid. Course form can be key and I can see him contending into the weekend.
