GALWAY
Galway arrive at this year’s Connacht Final looking for five in a row after victories over Roscommon in 2022, Sligo in 2023 and Mayo for the last two years in 2024 and 2025.
The last time that they didn’t appear in a provincial decider was 2015 so it has shown their dominance of late.
They overcame a bit of a fright against Leitrim last time in the semi final where they led by 0-11 to 0-4 at the break thanks to a Liam Ó’Conghaile two pointer close to half-time. A couple of goals from Leitrim put a few nerves into Galway fans in the stands in Carrick-On-Shannon.
When you have the likes of Paul Conroy on the field for the full 70 mins and then bring Shane Walsh and Damien Comer off the bench, dominance was asserted close home to win by five points in the end.
The Tribesmen into their 11th Connacht final in a row and are looking for their latest five in a row in Connacht with the previous run coming with the quintuple landed between the years of 1956 to 1960.
A fully fit Shane Walsh and Damien Comer will add to the firepower they already have in the front line with Cillian McDaid and Robert Finnerty in top form this year. Dylan McHugh with (1-01) against Leitrim is another to watch closely this weekend as his raiding from defence can lead to important scores.

ROSCOMMON
Roscommon made the journey to Gaelic Park in New York for their opening provincial clash this year and ran riot to win 5-22 to 1-10. They made a blistering start and raised a green flag in the opening seconds of the game following a scintillating attack. They kept their foot on the gas and ran out easy winners and would move on to face Mayo in a Connacht Semi-Final.
Roscommon landed in Castlebar with high hopes of causing an upset and that they did winning by ten points in the end and racking up another big total with 2-25 scored.
Diarmuid Murtagh scored 1-10 in the game for the Rossies and cousins Darragh and Robert Heneghan also had plenty to offer with 1-03 and 0-01 respectively. The 2019 Connacht Champions outscored Mayo 1-13 to 0-07 from around the 40th minute and Mayo simply ran out of ideas.
Roscommon now return to a provincial decider for the first time since 2022 and will look to avenge a three point defeat on that occasion to Galway.
VERDICT
This game has the making of being one of the games of the summer, both sides have some serious firepower at the top end of the field and if it comes to somewhat of a shootout then I could see Galway edge it by three in the end to give them their fifth Connacht title in a row.
Verdict: Galway (72/100)
SCORELINE PREDICTION
Galway 2-22 Roscommon 2-19
Galway to win by 1-3pts is 333/100
