BAR 1 Betting Sponsors Grade 2 Hilly Way Chase at Cork Racecourse Mallow
BAR 1 Betting (formerly Bar One Racing) is proud to sponsor four races on Sunday’s eight-race card at Cork Racecourse Mallow, headlined by the prestigious Grade 2 BAR 1 Betting Hilly Way Chase (Sunday, 2.50pm – live on RTÉ2 and Racing TV). This €100,000 two-mile contest is one of the standout early-season races in Irish National Hunt racing, with a roll of honour that includes superstars Douvan, El Fabiolo, and three-time winner Energumene.
Energume seeks a record-setting fourth Hilly Way success on Sunday at Cork Racecourse.
Willie Mullins Targets Seventh Straight Hilly Way Chase Victory
Champion trainer Willie Mullins has dominated the Hilly Way Chase in recent years, winning the last six renewals, and he sends two major contenders again this weekend.
Majborough – last season’s impressive Irish Arkle winner.
Energumene – the defending champion aiming for a remarkable fourth Hilly Way Chase victory, a feat never achieved before.
Found A Fifty and Banbridge Add Further Star Quality
Gordon Elliott fields another leading contender in Found A Fifty, a dual Grade 1 winner and recent victor of the BAR 1 Betting Fortia Chase at Navan.
Back to back wins in the Bar One Racing Fortria Chase (Grade 2) for Found A Fifty for the @gelliott_racing team in the hands of @jackkennedy15. 👏
Found A Fifty is looking to lift back-to-back BAR 1 Betting sponsored pots after his win in the Fortria.
Adding further excitement is Banbridge, last year’s King George VI Chase hero for Joseph O’Brien. Banbridge returns to Cork seeking redemption after his dramatic final-fence fall in this race 12 months ago. O’Brien has confirmed that if all goes well on Sunday, Banbridge will head to Kempton on December 26th to defend his King George crown, setting up one of the most anticipated festive clashes of the season.
Munster racegoers will also have a home-trained runner to support, with Tipperary-based trainer John Patrick Ryan saddling the talented mare Ad Caelum. She adds a strong local angle to what is a small but extremely select field.
