Quarter-Final Match Betting and Predictions:
Thursday, March 4th
(Prices correct as of 5pm on April 3rd)
(7:15pm) Evs Nathan Aspinall v Rob Cross 4/5 (Prediction – Nathan Aspinall, Rob Cross put in a disappointing performance in Belfast last week, losing 6-3 to Peter Wright in what can only be described as a convincing defeat. He was below form when losing 6-2 in the last 16 of last weekend’s German Darts Masters to Danny Noppert.
On the other hand, Nathan Aspinall was runner-up to a fantastic Luke Littler in Belfast, with wins over Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright en route to the Final. He also beat Dirk van Duijvenbode and Ross Smith before losing to hometown favourite Martin Schindler in the quarter-finals of the German Masters. Taking all of this into consideration, I’m going for a win for The Asp in this contest.) Correct Score Prediction – 6-4
(8pm) 7/10 Luke Littler v Michael van Gerwen 11/10 (Prediction – Michael van Gerwen, Luke Littler put in a run of fantastic performances to beat Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, and Nathan Aspinall and win his first Premier League night in Belfast last Thursday and was not in action at the German Masters last weekend.
His opponent Michael van Gerwen, whom he beat 6-3 in last week’s semi-finals, made it through to the German Masters final over the Easter weekend, with wins against Jeffrey De Zwaan, Joe Cullen (6-0), Jermaine Wattimena, and Martin Schindler, before losing comprehensively 8-1 to an almost unplayable Luke Humphries in the Final. MVG showed some good form apart from a one-sided final in Germany to make me fancy a win over Luke Littler in this match.) Correct Score Prediction – 4-6
(8:45pm) 2/1 Michael Smith v Luke Humphries 2/5 (Prediction – Luke Humphries, Michael Smith was a beaten quarter-finalist against MVG in Belfast on Thursday last and beat Cameron Menzies in a high-quality affair in his opening match at the German Masters before losing 6-4 to Josh Rock in the last 16 in Munich.
Luke Humphries lost out in a last-leg decider to eventual winner Luke Littler in Belfast, before beating all before him at the German Masters over the Easter Weekend, where he produced a darting masterclass to win his first ranking event since the World Championships, with a whopping 112.66 average in a 8-1 demolition of MVG in Monday’s Final in Munich. It’s difficult to see anything other than a win for Cool Hand Luke in this contest.) Correct Score Prediction – 3-6
(9:30pm) 2/5 Gerwyn Price v Peter Wright 2/1 (Prediction – Gerwyn Price, Gerwyn Price was beaten by eventual runner-up Nathan Aspinall in last week’s quarter-finals in Belfast and was in top-form at the German Masters before losing the semi-finals to eventual winner Luke Humphries. He may have went even better in both tournaments had it not been for his recent problems with his doubles, which is very uncharacteristic for The Iceman.
Peter Wright beat a below par Rob Cross in Belfast, before losing 6-2 in the semi’s to eventual runner-up Nathan Aspinall. He then beat Jose De Sousa in his opening game at the German Masters before losing 6-4 to tonight’s opponent Gerwy Price in the last 32 in Munich, it could have been a worse defeat for Snakebite was it not for Price’s double troubles. I’m expecting Gezzy Price to have sorted his finishing problems out and again hand out another defeat to Peter Wright in this match. ) Correct Score Prediction – 6-3
Week 10 Nightly Winner Prediction: Gerwyn Price @ 6/1
Tournament Outright Betting:
Luke Humphries 13/8 – Luke Littler 13/5 – Michael van Gerwen 33/10 – Nathan Aspinall 9/1 – Michael Smith 12/1 – Gerwyn Price 18/1 – Rob Cross 18/1 Peter Wright 100/1
