About BAR 1 Betting

BAR 1 Betting is one of Ireland’s leading independent bookmakers, offering customers a complete betting experience across retail shops, online, mobile, telebetting, and on-course services.

Founded in the early 1990s by Barney O’Hare, the business opened its first betting shop in Dundalk and quickly built a strong reputation across the North East of Ireland. What began as a single local bookmaker has grown into a nationwide operation, now employing over 350 people and operating 56 retail betting shops across the Republic of Ireland.

Formerly known as Bar One Racing, the company officially rebranded to BAR 1 Betting, marking the start of a bold new era. The rebrand coincided with the launch of a new website and next-generation mobile app, delivering a faster, smoother, and more intuitive betting experience across sports and racing.

As a proudly independent bookmaker, BAR 1 Betting is committed to delivering top-class customer service, combining modern technology with the expertise of knowledgeable, highly trained staff. Customers can place their bets in comfort and confidence, whether in-shop, online, or through our Telebetting service, which operates 7 days a week from 8:30am to midnight from our headquarters in Dundalk, County Louth.

BAR 1 Betting also has deep roots in Irish sport, with a growing sponsorship portfolio that includes headline partnerships such as the Dundalk Stadium All-Weather Season, Navan Racing Festival, Fairyhouse Winter Festival, the BAR 1 Betting Sprint Cup, and the Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park.
