14:10 2m www.tramoreraces.ie Maiden Hurdle (4yo+)

An open looking maiden hurdle to kick-start proceedings at Tramore on Thursday afternoon. A chance is taken on the Cian Collins trained Grace’s Legacy, who runs in the first time cheekpieces.

Beaten a little over twelve lengths by Inver Bay over 2 miles at Roscommon last time out, Grace’s Legacy ran well for a long way and appeared to hold every chance jumping three out only to tire from the landing side of the second last hurdle.

A chance is taken that the cheekpieces combined with the ups and downs at Tramore can bring enough improvement to see Grace’s Legacy open up her account in what doesn’t look the strongest maiden hurdle.

Selection: Grace’s Legacy

14:45 2m Ardmore Handicap Hurdle (3yo+ 0-100)

Lanzhou took a step forward on previous efforts when finishing second at Tramore when last seen in August.

It was the selections’ second run at the track in three days and although he was comfortably held by the winner, Ina Mina, I thought Lanzhou stayed on nicely to finish second and has every chance of going one better here in the hands of jockey Daniel King.

Selection: Lanzhou

15:20 2m4½f (2m4f73y) Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle (4yo+)

On only her second start over hurdles Blue Trix stayed on stoutly to finish third over 2m2f behind Lygon Lad at Downpatrick last time out.

Blue Trix lost her position at the top of the hill and didn’t look to handle coming down the hill at Downpatrick but once she met the rising ground, she stayed on strong and was only beaten 3 & 1/4l by the winner. She will have learned a lot from that experience and can have a big say in a decent mares maiden hurdle.

Selection: Blue Trix

A chance is taken that Bave Josee can rediscover the form that saw her finish second at Sligo on her penultimate run back in June.

Held up on that occasion, she made up a lot of ground in a short space on the downhill run on the final circuit. Despite this, still held every chance jumping the final hurdle and stuck to her task gamely to finish second, only beaten a little over 2l by the winner Larkins Lane.

Don’t expect to see Brave Josee until late. She wears the hood and will likely be held up in the early stages.

Selection: Brave Josee

16:30 2m (1m7 & 1/2f110y) Pickardstown Handicap Chase (4yo+)

This is a competitive handicap chase despite only 7 runners taking their chance.

I like the Barry Connell trained Farrokh, who showed a good attitude to win a handicap chase at Wexford in July, getting the better of Chosen Shant in the closing stages. Chosen Shant reversed that form when the pair met back at the same venue, in a race where Farrokh’s jumping lacked fluency.

Farrokh bounced back with a bold jumping display to finish second at Ballinrobe last time out.

He likes to go forward and I’m expecting a bold show from Farrokh under Sean Flanagan.

Selection: Farrokh

17:05 2m4f (2m4f80y) Waterford Greenway Beginners Chase (4yo+)

Calm Flight Ahead has been a revelation over hurdles since the application of blinkers. He made all to win a handicap hurdle at Sligo in August and very much looked a horse continuing on the upward trajectory, when scoring in similar fashion at Downpatrick last time out – both wins when fitted with blinkers.

The blinkers remain for his chasing debut and with the benefit of having three runs in point-to-points, Calm Flight Ahead could prove difficult to pass if getting into a good early rhythm.

Selection: Calm Flight Ahead

17:35 2m Copper Coast (Ladies Pro/Am) INH Flat Race (4yo+)

0 from 3 in bumpers to date, I thought Long Goodbye ran well for a long way in a bumper at Cork last time out over 2m 3f.

Long Goodbye shaped as though a drop back to 2m would suit and I think connections have found a good opportunity for Long Goodbye to get competitive.

Representing trainer Liz Doyle and jockey Georgie Benson, it would be no surprise to see Long Goodbye take the beating in the “lucky last”.

Selection: Long Goodbye
