13:57 1m½f (1m100y) Irish EBF Fillies Maiden (Smullen Series) (2yo)

Duchessofaquitaine cost 425,000gns as a yearling, and a chance is taken that the beautifully-bred daughter of Sea The Stars can make a winning racecourse debut for trainer Paddy Twomey and jockey Billy Lee.

Selection: Duchessofaquitaine

14:32 1m½f (1m100y) Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden (Smullen Series) (2yo)

Mount Meru showed plenty of promise, finishing second on racecourse debut at Gowran Park. Despite a wide draw in stall 13, I think the son of Baaeed will take the beating here.

Selection: Mount Meru

15:07 1m1f Mongey Communications Eyrefield Stakes (Group 3)(2yo)

Wall Street quickened up nicely in the closing stages to win a maiden on racecourse debut over 1 mile at Leopardstown back in August.

Despite breaking slowly from the stalls and not being fluent over the road-crossing, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was four lengths off the leader exiting the back straight. I thought it was a good educational ride from Wayne Lordan. He placed Wall Street among horses, gradually going through the gears, teaching him how to race, and once asked for maximum effort the son of Sea The Stars was impressive, winning by a comfortable half-length.

The second home, Jesus Green, has since finished second in a Group 1 and won a maiden at Navan earlier this month.

Wall Street has quite a short stride and a low action; should any ease appear in the going description at Leopardstown on Saturday, I think it would dent his chances.

At the time of writing, the going is good, and if that remains the case, I’d be hoping to see something a little special from Wall Street.

Selection: Wall Street

15:40 7f Irish Stallion Farms EBF Laidlaw Cup Fillies Maiden (2yo)

Ita Florence took a step forward from racecourse debut to finish second in a fillies’ maiden over 6 furlongs at Naas last time out.

The Jim Bolger-trained filly took a keen hold in the early stages, so I’m not convinced the step up to 7 furlongs will entirely suit. However, the daughter of Sioux Nation has a middle-distance pedigree and will have learned a lot from her latest outing.

If settling better in the early stages, I think Ita Florence will take some catching.

Selection: Ita Florence

16:15 7f Mongey Communications Killavullan Stakes (Group 3) (2yo)

Having only finished out of the first four once in six outings, this can go the way of the ultra consistent Trean.

The Paddy Twomey-trained colt put in another fine display when winning the Goffs Million at The Curragh last time out under jockey Billy Lee. Stuck behind a wall of horses entering the final 2 furlongs, Trean showed a good turn of foot once a gap opened and won by a cosy half-length at the line.

Selection: Trean

16:50 7f Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden (2yo)

First Watch broke smartly to make most of the running on debut at Naas over 7 furlongs last month (winner, Nouveau Grey runs in the 4:15 Leopardstown), before tiring close home.

Nicely drawn in stall 4 here, a chance is taken that the Jessica Harrington-trained colt can open up his account at the second time of asking.

Selection: First Watch

17:20 1m½f (1m100y) Irish Stallion Farms EBF Nursery Handicap (2yo)

Zero from three in maidens, City Of Gold has shown promise in all three outings, particularly when finishing a little under 5 lengths behind Trean at Galway in July and when beaten only a short head by Leadlight at Galway last month.

City Of Gold is one of five handicap debutants in the field and should give a bold show from stall 4.

Selection: City Of Gold
