With 35 winners in Ireland already this season, trainer Gavin Cromwell very well could be on course for a personal best this term. It’s not only at home that Cromwell has excelled with the Navan handler enjoying some fruitful trips to Cheltenham with five winners, two seconds and a third from just 12 runners which resulted in a handsome prize money return of over £100,000.
The dual-purpose trainer also celebrated a Royal Ascot winner this year with Snellen springing a 12/1 upset in the Listed Chesham Stakes during the summer. However, it is now all eyes on next weekends Bar One Racing Winter Festival with the six-time Grade 1 winning trainer eyeing more top-level success with Letsbeclearaboutit and Encanto Bruno reportedly being readied for Grade One tilts.
Letsbeclearaboutit could head for the Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase with Encanto Bruno on course for the Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle.
Formerly a smart bumper performer and staying hurdler, Letsbeclearaboutit is now unbeaten in two starts over fences with the eight-year-old gelding’s latest win coming in Grade 3 company in Cork at the start of November.
As for Encanto Bruno, the ex-John McConnell trained five-year-old finished in mid-division in last season’s Champion bumper after Cork and Cheltenham NHF race wins before going on to make a perfect start over hurdles in another Bar One Racing sponsored maiden hurdle at Bellewstown this summer.
Pulled up when blowing hard at the Galway Festival, Encanto Bruno made amends when winning on his first start for Cromwell at Cheltenham in October under Keith Donoghue.
The Fairyhouse Winter Festival kicks off on Saturday, December 2nd with the The Grade 3 Willow Warm Hurdle at 1.13 the opening day feature while day two of the festival is Sunday, December 3rd with three Grade 1 contests on the Bar One Racing sponsored card.
