Folks, what an excellent Sunday at Fairyhouse we have in store featuring the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle, Drinmore Novice Chase and Hatton’s Grace Hurdle. This meeting proved to be an excellent stepping stone to the Cheltenham Festival last season so keep a close eye on the form.
Check out all the specials and offers we will have available either by contacting our Telebetting team or checking them Online on Bar One Racing.com.
12.00 BAR ONE RACING BEST ODDS GUARANTEED MARES HANDICAP CHASE 2M 4F
We start the card with a very competitive mares handicap chase and the one that interests me the most here is CUSHINSTOWN FINEST who finally got her head in front last time out at Punchestown after a string of placed efforts.
She has been raised eight pounds by the handicapper for that run but I think now with that win under her belt she could be a different proposition here. She is in receipt of plenty of weight here from the likes of Emily Moon who she finished behind when Emily Moon won a beginner chase at Thurles back in March.
It’s a long way home up the straight at Fairyhouse and Jordan Gainford should get a decent spin on a mare that he knows very well.
She should be hard to keep out of the frame here with luck in running.

12.30 BAR ONE RACING JUVENILE HURDLE (GRADE 3) 2M
It looks very interesting that Gordon Elliott has chosen ZANAHIYR as one of his main runners here considering the likes of Duffle Coat and Quilixios also had entries.
This horse was formerly trained by Michael Halford on the flat and won nicely on his hurdling debut when he got up close home to beat Dark Voyager trained by Willie Mullins. The trip on that occasion was 2m 2f and he was only getting going as they jumped the last and he won going away.
With the likes of Saint Sam and Druids Altar in opposition this race will likely be very tactical. Zanahiyr could just have too much tactical speed for them and should take plenty of beating here.
How do you like the look of our FAIRYHOUSE HOT POT?
1.05 BAR ONE RACING.COM ROYAL BOND NOVICE HURDLE (GRADE 1) 2M
The first Grade One of the day and this race is simply all about BALLYADAM for me. This horse tops of my list of antepost selections for the Supreme Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham in March and I think it will take a very good horse to stop him here.
He blotted his copybook on debut at Navan back in February when the Cullentra dogs had been barking and everyone expected a scintillating performance. He was backed down to 1/4 favourite and was very one paced. He made up for that in no uncertain terms when Jamie Codd got the best out of him to win easily in Downpatrick by eighteen lengths.
I was very impressed by his hurdle debut at Down Royal when he simply ground his opponents into submission from three out and the manner in which he quickened clear was very smart. While he steps up in grade here I think he is very special and we could see another excellent performance from the Cheveley Park owned gelding.
Should take the world of beating here.
1.35 BAR ONE RACING.COM DRINMORE NOVICE CHASE (GRADE 1) 2M 4F
This race is simply all about Envoi Allen and it is just a pity that there wont be packed stands to see him.
From a punting point of view the distance market or the betting without market may be the way to play. COKO BEACH is an interesting contender in the betting without market based on his last run when second to Pencilfulloflead who has since followed up in very impressive fashion.
The form of that has worked out nicely and Coko Beach also had stablemate Braeside in behind who done well to finish second in the Ladies National at Fairyhouse on Saturday carrying top weight.
Being a stablemate of Envoi Allen, Coko Beach may set the pace and while Envoi Allen will no doubt pick him up he could stick on well to finish second.
Small forecast play or the betting without market may be the way to play but from a racing perspective Envoi Allen is one of the stars on show on a cracking card of racing and he will be very good to watch.
2.05 BAR ONE RACING.COM PORTERSTOWN HANDICAP (GRADE B) 3M 5F
This race is extremely competitive as normal but the one that catches my eye is the JP Mc Manus owned SCOIR MEAR who is to be ridden by Simon Torrens.
This horse absolutely bolted up in Wexford on his penultimate run before finishing third to The Jam Man in the Troytown at Navan last time out. The longer trip shouldn’t really be an issue here as he travels well from off the pace.
I think he will be dropped in and should travel away and hope for some luck in running. The handicapper has left his mark unchanged after the Troytown run and if you take The Jam Man out of the race Scoir Mear was just over two lengths behind Roaring Bull.
A grey horse is very easy to spot and hopefully as they come down from ballyhack into the straight Simon Torrens and his grey partner will be sitting where they need to be.
Will be hard to keep out of the frame with luck in running.
2.35 BAR ONE RACING.COM HATTONS GRACE HURDLE (GRADE 1) 2M 4F
Honeysuckle will be a short priced favourite here and she is a very deserving favourite but RONALD PUMP could be the value alternative here.
He was running a very good race in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan last time out when coming down and I would expect a better performance with that run under his belt.
He was second in the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham last season behind Lisnagar Oscar and a return to that form should see him go very close. He ran really well on this card last season when he finished second to Fakir D’Oudairies in the Drinmore after the match with himself and Samcro never materialised.
Ronald Pump would prefer further but he could be one of the horses to give Honeysuckle the most to do.
3.05 BAR ONE RACING EXTRA PLACES HANDICAP HURDLE (GRADE A) 2M
It could be a quick double for owner JP Mc Manus who has plenty of runners here. One of the most interesting though has to be CAMPEADOR who returned to form last time out at Down Royal when he was fourth at 80/1 behind Cayd Boy.
This horse was at the head of the market for the Fred Winter at Cheltenham back in 2016 when he was coming with what looked like a winning challenge when falling heavily at the last. Luke Dempsey who rode him last time out maintains the partnership and with the weights favouring him against Cayd Boy I think he should get much closer.
He has always threatened to win a decent pot and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him arrive on the bridle going to the last.
He has plenty of ability and looks a solid each way proposition here.
3.40 BAR ONE RACING GIVING CASH BACK DAILY (PRO/AM) FLAT RACE 2M
Noel Meade landed the bumper at his local track on Saturday when Highland Charge was successful and he looks to have a decent chance here with HYMIE WEISS.
If this horse has some of the traits of his namesake then he will be heard to pass. Hymie Weiss was a Chicago mobster and a tough rival of Al Capone.
Michael Stenson is on board here claiming seven pounds and with the yard in form this gelding may be slightly overpriced. Noel Meade bumper runners are always to be feared but even more now as the winners have started to return with more regularity.
Keep a close on the market but it wouldn’t surprise me to see this horse go very close.
