Tuesday’s Dundalk preview & selections

Alan Marron has been in red hot form with his tips for BarOneRacing.com this season.

1.55 CROWNE PLAZA LEADING JOCKEY AND TRAINER CHAMPIONSHIP HANDICAP

MADEMOISELLE PENNY was very eye-catching last time out at the course under Kevin Manning when she made most of the running only to fade close home and finish fourth behind Spelga who re-opposes here. Spelga gave Mademoiselle Penny 3lb that night but this time around gives 9lb and that could be enough to sway the result in favour of Pat Flynns mare. Her handicap mark gives her a very strong chance in this as she was a winner off a mark of 57 way back in 2015 and gets in here off a mark of 51. Kevin Manning remains aboard and she looks too well treated to ignore.

2.25 CROWNE PLAZA LEADING JOCKEY AND TRAINER CHAMPIONSHIP HANDICAP DIV II

SHARJAH is an old favorite of many who might just be able to pop out and make all here off what looks a very attractive mark of 48. The handicapper has relinquished his grip in recent times and this horse will win sooner rather than later. He was a winner off 72 just over a year ago so that leaves him some 24lb well in. He has been placed most recently off marks in the mid 50s and if Ben Coen can get him to break well I can see them all struggling to get past.  This looks to be an extremely weak race and with a lack of pace I can see Sharjah getting his own way up front. NAP of the day for me.

2.55 IRISHINJUREDJOCKEYS.COM CLAIMING RACE

It could be a quick double for trainer Andrew Slattery as COMHAIRGHEADAS takes his place here. Many of ye who read my previews will know that I have been following this horse off a cliff of late and he is sure to get his head in front soon. For a five year old he has had plenty of racing and if cheekpieces can help him concentrate, he travels extremely well in his races and I can see him going close. He has contested some very good races in recent times and this is a big drop in grade. Looks solid each way value here and with look in running he will go very close.

3.25 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF MAIDEN AUCTION RACE

Michael Halford has his team in flying form at Dundalk in recent weeks and it will be no surprise if BALMARI adds to his tally here. This horse set his own pace last time out and proved to be very unlucky when just caught close home and ultimately finished third. This race lacks strength in depth for me and if Balmari can step up again he will prove very hard to beat. He may not have to improve much more than his first two runs but if Ronan Whelan can get him settled early it will take a good one to beat him. He drops back to 7f here and the way he traveled last time suggests, that should be perfect.

4.00 CHRISTMAS PARTY PACKAGES AT DUNDALK STADIUM NURSERY HANDICAP

GOLD FACTORY ran a very solid race last time out and should go close here for Joseph O Brien and Declan Mc Donagh. Enchanted One who finished fourth in that race has come out and won since so that has left the form with a very nice look to it. Adamaris who finished sixth came out on Friday night last and finished second. Gold Factory traveled sweetly last time but got tapped for a bit of toe and stayed on well. She has gone up 2lb for that run and for me she should strip much fitter here. She drops back in trip here also and that could be the key that unlocks her entry to the winners enclosure. One to watch the market very closely with.

4.30 CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL RACE AND STAY HANDICAP

DANCE ALONE is a horse I have been keeping a close eye on in recent weeks and he arrives here well handicapped and coming into form. He is five pound lower than when winning over course and distance on the 2nd of May 2018 and he has mainly been campaigned over further this season. He tends to be close to the pace and looking at the race he should have the pace to aim at up the straight.  A fast run six furlongs looks exactly what he needs as he travels well and stays further. In a trappy enough contest he looks solid each way value.

5.00 CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL RACE AND STAY HANDICAP DIV II

I am always of the opinion that every horse will have his day around Dundalk if he remains consistently in form. TRIBAL PATH could be another winner for Vanessa Maye after her association with Geological. Tribal Path has tended to find one or two too good lately but his form looks the best on show here. Last time out he was a very solid third behind Eacharn and that form should be more than enough here. Vanessa should be able to get a handy position and go close with luck in running.  Big chance here.

5.30 FLOODLIT FRIDAY NIGHTS AT DUNDALK HANDICAP

GRIFFYNDOR is going to be somewhat of a speculative selection for the lucky last based on the form he showed last time out. He finished down the field in a very competitive race behind Mother Vincent but the form has worked out well with Bodak who finished sixth winning at the track on Friday last. Lady In Lavender who finished third that day has also come out and won since. Griffyndor has seen his mark drop in recent times and he could be a double figure price here but Siobhan Rutledge claims 10lb and that could see him run into a place.  Small each way selection to end the card.
