Hollow Victory To Prove Rewarding At Fairyhouse

'The 2018 Fairyhouse Winter Festival bumper winner, Envoi Allen

Alan Marron runs the rule over the usually very informative bumper at Fairyhouse on Sunday

Our regular racing tipster Alan Marron has a strong fancy for the bumper at Fairyhouse on Sunday, which will be the final race of the BarOneRacing.com Winter Festival

This bumper over the years has produced some very good winners: Getabird 2016, Downtown Getaway 2017 and the Champion Bumper winner from the Cheltenham Festival, Envoi Allen, was successful in this race last year.

This years’ renewal looks to be another very good race with much of the form coming from the point-to-point fields. This preview will be revolve around three of the main protagonists who, if they line up, should go very close.

Champion trainer Willie Mullins

This horse made an impressive winning debut for Colin Bowe in a point-to-point at Knockanard in February and subsequently changed hands for £300,000 later that month.

Willie Mullins stated in a recent stable tour that he is a “nice” horse and that his most likely starting point was a bumper. This is his only entry over the weekend and he is et to take his chance.

I also noticed in a recent feature on Irish point-to-point horses that this horse got a very big mention owing to the way he won in Knockanard; he made a mistake at the third-last fence, where he briefly dropped to third, and then soon regained the advantage and won going away.

In the same colours as last year’s winner, Envoi Allen, the owners will no doubt be looking forward to seeing him run.

He’s a strong fancy.
