1.45 JOHN LYNCH MEMORIAL MAIDEN HURDLE
BRONAGHS BELLE jumped very well on her debut over obstacles last time out at Sligo and just got a little outpaced as they turned for home and Caer went on to win easily. The third horse Waitnsee who I selected for a preview earlier in the week, franked the form by winning her own maiden impressively and then Caer went on to be second behind Effernock Fizz at Bellewstown. I watched Bronaghs Belle very closely last time out and she jumped very quickly. If it was race fitness that caught her out she should improve off the debut run and be a different proposition here. Solid Chance.
2.20 GAS NETWORKS IRELAND NOVICE HURDLE
QUARTZ DE RHEU created a very good impression on hurdling debut and could make it a quick double here for team Closutton. He made all the running last time out and could do so again. The second from Tramore came out and won since so it makes the run look all the better. Should he be successful here he is definitely a notebook horse for the winter. Keep a close eye on him.
2.55 DOCTOR BOB HANDICAP HURDLE
This handicap hurdle is most definitely one of the most competitive races of the week. Every horse in it looks to have some sort of a chance. ZALIKA is one down near the foot of the weights who may have a bit of improvement to come and could go well at a decent price. Her second to Make The Switch at Down Royal was a nice run and the one thing that I noticed from watching the race back is how well she travelled. The front two were thirteen lengths clear of the third and to be honest she may have just been beaten by a decent one on the day. Small each way chance in a tough race.
3.25 MJ CARROLL ARRO HANDICAP HURDLE
Charles Byrnes is going to war again this week with SKY MARSHAL and that looks very interesting. He attempted to make all the running over three mile and ended up finishing second. If Maeves Choice had to stay on her feet he may well have been third bit thats the name of the game and they are there to be jumped. Should he adopt prominent tactics again they might struggle to reel him in. He was impressive at Cork over 2m 3f so this shorter distance than earlier in the week should be perfect. Id expect him to go very close here.
4.00 ALLMAN CONTRACTS LTD MARES NOVICE CHASE
Willie Mullins looks to have another ace in the pack here with Contingency but I am happy to take her on with another Mullins maestro and that being Emmet who runs DOLLY DANCER. She won at Tramore last time out over fences and multiple things went wrong. She collided with the wing and bumped her rival and still managed to battle on and get up and win close home. This is a step up again but if she can jump as well as she did at Tramore she will give the likely favourite plenty to think about.
4.35 CHARLIE CHUTE MEMORIAL HANDICAP CHASE
BLACK SCORPION was the talking horse prior to the Kerry National but unfortunately he missed the cut and looks for some compensation here. The drop on trip could be a slight issue but he could be ridden closer to the pace this time around. He stays well and he has won over the course before. He was given far too much to do at Killarney and ran on strongly. He jumps well so id expect him to go very close here. Be hard to keep out of the frame.
5.10 SHANAHAN POWER (QR) HANDICAP CHASE
Mick Winters would love to have a winner in Listowel. A Cork man winning a race in Kerry would go down really well. He has a big chance to do that here with CHURCHTOWN GLEN. This horse has blinkers applied for the first time and they could turn a string of consistent efforts into a victory. He was third in a beginners chase at Tipperary last time out where the horse that finished second was One Cool Poet who went on to create history at the Galway Festival and win on the flat three times over the week. Tje handicapper cant really raise this horse too much for being consistent but he knows where he stands with him. If the blinkers work then he will be hard to beat. Trappy enough contest.
5.40 BRENDAN DALY MEMORIAL SLAN ABHAILE NH FLAT RACE
DONACHEADY GALE was very impressive on debut and had Sneaky Getaway behind who has won twice since and contested the Doncaster Cup where he finished fifth to Stradivarius. The second horse has also come out and won since to there is plenty of substance to the form. He has had time off since that run and he could be quite a nice animal for John Ryan to go to war with this season. He could be one to watch.
