The beautiful Killarney racecourse takes centre stage with the midweek racing

Will Reilly takes a look at a week that is, once again, packed with quality racing

It’s another big week for racing with the Killarney Festival (4 days) and the Irish Oaks (The Curragh, 2 days, 5 Group races in total) meetings taking place.

In Britain, the week contains a £25,000 handicap at Ayr (Monday), a £40,000 handicap at Newbury on Friday, followed by the £250,000 Weatherbys Super Sprint, a £100,000 handicap, a Group 3 race and a Listed Race on Saturday’s card.

Hamilton‘s Friday feature is the £43,000 Glasgow Stakes (Listed Race), while Pontefract‘s feature on the same day is a £30,000 handicap.

On Saturday, Market Rasen stages the Summer Plate and Summer Hurdle (both Listed Races), Ripon‘s card contains the £25,000 Bell-Ringer Handicap, Cartmel‘s main race is a £23,600 handicap hurdle and, at Newmarket, the main events are a £40,000 Listed Race for fillies and a £30,000 handicap.

The Sunday feature in Britain is a £22,500 handicap chase at Stratford.

The Irish racing is listed first with the British racing following on.
