The Masters 2019: Extra Markets

Viktor Hovland to finish as top amateur is Jordan Mackin's nap of the extra-markets for this year's Masters

Jordan Mackin finds extra-market value for The Masters from Augusta National. The action gets underway on Thursday afternoon from 1:30pm, live on Sky Sports Golf

The 83rd Edition of the US Masters takes place this week starting Thursday 11th of April.

The first golfing major of the year takes place at the famous Augusta National Golf Club and is the only major of the year that takes place on the same course each year.

Patrick Reed comes into the week as the defending champion.

With such a big event, there are a number of extra markets priced up this week and I have picked out three where there is clear value.

Viktor Hovland – Top Amateur

Viktor Hovland will become the first Norwegian to compete in The Masters when he tees-up on Thursday and comes into the event as the favourite to be Top Amateur and I think he has all the credentials to be successful on his debut.

Currently ranked No. 3 in the world amateur ranks, Hovland qualified for The Masters in impressive style winning the US Amateur Championship on a course with greens that are as tricky and quick as the ones around the Augusta track.

Hovland also boasts a number of professional tournament appearances as well, including the Arnold Palmer Invitational last month where he made the cut.

I believe with length and accuracy off the tee and a good touch around fast greens, Hovland will make the cut and could also challenge for a very good finish.

Viktor Hovland – Top Amateur at 5/4.

Bernhard Langer – Top German

With only two Germans qualified for this year’s tournament, this is essentially a match bet between the two-time Masters winner, Bernhard Langer and former world number one Martin Kaymer.

I’m picking Langer here purely on course-form.

Kaymer has publicly stated how much he dislikes August, missing the cut five out of the ten years he has played and his current tour form has been poor, failing to post a Top 20 finish so far this season.

The evergreen Langer has always been consistent in his play at Augusta and has all the experience you would want around this track.

Even though he is playing on the Champions Tour, his form has been fine, finishing in the Top 5 in each of his Champions Tour events.

Berhard Langer – Top German at Evs.

Matt Kuchar – First Round Leader

This week at Bar One Racing, we have massive each way value in both the Outright market and the First Round Leader market paying a massive 8 Places.

My fancy here is the current FedEx Cup Leader in Matt Kuchar.

The “Top 10” Machine has being proving that he can get over the line and win events this year with two victories this year on tour and a runner up finish in the WGC Matchplay two weeks ago.

After the first round play of last year’s tournament, Kuchar was tied for second place on four under par with a round which could have being so much better.

Kuchar has an impressive record for his starting rounds this year, going sub-70 in nine of his first 10 rounds and boasts the best first round average on tour this year.

I think he’s a great bet here considering the incredible 8 places available on this market this week.

Matt Kuchar – First Round Leader at 35/1 E/W.
