Doncaster All Set For Start Of British Turf Flat Season

Doncaster is primed and ready for the start of the British turf flat season

Will Reilly looks forward to this week’s racing

The traditional curtain-raiser to the British turf flat season, the Lincoln Handicap, will take place on Saturday at its traditional venue of Doncaster. Doncaster will race on Sunday, too.

Also on Sunday, Ascot will stage a valuable jumping fixture and, on Saturday, Kempton’s flat card will contain the valuable Rosebery Handicap and Magnolia Stakes.

In Ireland, the feature race at Navan on Saturday is the Listed Cork Stakes, which will be run over five furlongs, and the main jumping meeting is Limerick on Sunday, where the card will include a Grade 3 chase and a Listed bumper (details below).

Also, the hugely-valuable Dubai World Cup meeting will take place at Meydan Racecourse on Saturday.

And, of course, on Friday at Dundalk it is the Bar One Racing Dual Race Night, when a horse-race card carrying nearly €90,000 in prize-money will be followed by a greyhound card that will feature the Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Cup Final, the most-valuable race of its kind run in Ireland. We hope to see you there!
