Week 1: Thursday Feb 7, Utilita Arena, Newcastle
The 2019 Premier League season begins on Thursday Feb 7th, with 17 nights of top-class action running from February to May.
The season includes Judgement night after nine weeks of action, where the bottom two players in the league table will be eliminated and it all comes to a fascinating climax from The O2 in London on Thursday May 23rd.
The players taking part in this year’s Premier League are Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith, Peter Wright, Rob Cross, James Wade, Raymond van Barneveld, Gerwyn Price, Daryl Gurney and Mensur Suljovic. Gary Anderson has unfortunately withdrawn from the Premier League as he continues to struggle with a back injury.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to message & text. It’s going to be a long road ahead but I’m ready to start making changes to try & get my back to 100%. Good luck to all the boys in the pl go & give it your best.

The PDC have decided that nine different players will replace Gary Anderson at each of the nine different venues on each of the nine weeks of action.
The replacements are as follows – Chris Dobey (Newcastle, Week 1) – Glen Durrant (Glasgow, Week 2) – Steve Lennon (Dublin, Week 3) – Luke Humphries (Exeter, Week 4) – John Henderson (Aberdeen, Week 5) – Nathan Aspinall (Nottingham, Week 6) – Max Hopp (Berlin, Week 7) – Dimitri van den Bergh (Rotterdam Ahoy, Week 8, Night 1) – Jeffrey de Zwaan (Rotterdam Ahoy, Week 8, Night 2)
Thursday Feb 07th
(7:15pm) James Wade v Raymond van Barneveld
Prediction – James Wade at 23/20
This should be a close match with Raymond van Barneveld playing in his last Premier League and will be hoping for a good run of form but faces a very difficult opponent in James Wade, especially over this short format and for that reason it’s a James Wade win in this match for me.
(8pm) Gerwyn Price v Daryl Gurney
Prediction – Daryl Gurney at 6/5
This should be a fiery contest with both players not afraid to let their emotions be shown in exuberant celebrations. It will be interesting to see however how the new rules from the DRA on this subject affects both men. It should be close but if both players turn up in form it will be a Daryl Gurney win in this exciting contest.
(8:40pm) Chris Dobey v Mensur Suljovic
Prediction – Mensur Suljovic at 4/6
This is the first match where a replacement for the injured Gary Anderson is in effect and Chris Dobey will relish the experience he will get from this. However he faces an in-form Mensur Suljovic who played very well in last weekend’s Masters in Milton Keynes where he eventually only lost out to an in-form World No.1 Michael van Gerwen. I see a Mensur Suljovic win in this one.
Chris Dobey is the first ‘contender’ to grace the Premier League stage this Thursday in Newcastle! 👏🔥🎯

(9:20pm) Michael van Gerwen v Michael Smith
Prediction – Michael van Gerwen at 1/2
A repeat of the recent World Championship Final and Michael Smith will be out for revenge over the World No.1 in this match. However Michael van Gerwen was impressive in last week’s Masters tournament and is a strong fancy to get his league campaign off to a winning start by taking the win in this league opener.
(10pm) Peter Wright v Rob Cross
Prediction – Peter Wright at 8/5
A high quality game to finish off the opening night of the Premier League season and if both players arrive in top form then we are in for a top-class game of darts. It should be close between these two and it’s a narrow win for Peter “Snakebite” Wright for me.
