Connect Four

Peter Kingston looks forward to Friday Night racing at Dundalk

Teddy Boy drops back to 5f here which looks like it could suit the headstrong gelding. Eddie Lynam is hitting some form and is a dab hand with sprinters. Drawn ideally in stall 4, Teddy Boy gets the benefit of a 5 pound claim and a drop of two pounds since his last run at Dundalk. The combination of down in trip, decent draw and drop in the weights makes Teddy Boy the each way selection in an open and average affair, the 5.30pm.

Can’t Stop the Rock

La Novia is a very solid favourite in the 6.30pm. The penny really looked to have dropped for her last time out and a seven pound hike was fully deserved for a comprehensive win. Ross Coakley can take over on the Michael Halford trained filly to double up.

The bet however looks the overpriced first reserve. Arlecchino’s Rock¬† – ARLECCHINO’S ROCK IS NOW A NON RUNNER – has been in good heart for Dermot McLoughlin. The five year old won in October and hasn’t been beaten far on three starts since. He especially caught the eye when drawn 14 behind Tomwontlisten a fortnight ago and just failing. He’s three pound higher here than his win and should get a more favourable draw.

The consistent Arlecchino’s Rock looks a fair each way price.

Zwack for my Daddy O

Zwack is a Hungarian company which makes liqueur and spirits. He’ll be a monster price here. Dropped two pounds for his last poor run where he missed the break from the widest stall. However he stayed on when it was all over, over 6f to be beaten by seven lengths. Stepped up to 7f here, better drawn, hopefully the glimmer of ability I think I’ve seen can add up to a competitive performance off the the basement mark.

If he happens to win at these prices in the 7pm, there’ll be whiskey in the jar.

You’re a Wizard, Sheila

Secret Wizard ran a great race a fortnight ago when 2nd to the all conquering Too Precious. It was a fine effort after a couple of months off. Though up 2 pounds, it’s not much to worry about. The Sheila Lavery trained five year old has won off 10 pounds higher here last November. The extra trip is a concern but he looked to stay it well the last day and his laboured style always made me think 10f would suit.

Stall 4 here is ideal, the Lavery yard had a great summer and horses often seem overpriced, as looks the case here in the 9pm.
