Chicago-based NFL pundit Joe Golden has hit a rich vein of form with his NFL selections. Here are his thoughts on the next round of matches.
With a smile on our face and cash in our pockets we move on to week 10 in the NFL.
Last week this source was the only one that urged betting against the undefeated LA Rams – part of a winning parlay.
This week offers some easier pickings.
The Washington Redskins started the season well but have suffered too many injuries to continue winning – three men now down on the offensive line. That will be too much to overcome and the improving Tampa Bay Bucs should cover the 3 points at home.
We’ve been on the KC Chiefs all year – and why not? They keep winning and covering the points. Statistically the most-efficient team, they play the least-efficient in the Arizona Cardinals. The spread is a staggering 16.5 points, but the Cardinals simply can’t compete.
The Chicago Bears have a solid defense, and the Detroit Lions are scoring an anemic 13 PPG since trading their best WR. They are also allowing their QB to be sacked 10 times per match. I’ll take Chicago at home giving the 6.5.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers minus 3 v Washington Redskins, Sunday 11 November, 6pm
Kansas City minus 16.5 v Arizona Cardinals, Sunday 11 November, 6pm
Chicago Bears minus 6.5 v Detroit Lions, Sunday 11 November, 6pm
Usually I only give OVERS because scoring is just more fun than defense. But this week I’ll take the UNDER on the NY Jets and Buffalo Bills.
The Jets have a rookie QB who has not figured things out, but the Bills have Nathan Peterman, who sounds like the fellow handling your insurance needs. Oh, and he plays like it too.
In this comedy of errors, they should not combine for 37 points.
On the OVERS side, the KC Chiefs should run up the score in their match with Arizona and exceed 49 points.
New York Jets v Buffalo Bills, Sunday 11 November, 6pm: UNDERS
Kansas City v Arizona Cardinals, Sunday 11 November, 6pm: OVERS
Monday Night Game
The late game is a tough one to call.
A fill-in QB led the SF 49’ers to an easy win over the Raiders, but is he the next big thing or a fluke?
I believe the Giants will have watched the tape and noticed everything came off run-pass option plays and, with the rest week will be prepared for him, but the 3.5 points they are getting may prove to be the difference.
We’re on a nice run together, so if you feel lucky this week, then do something about it.
Monday Night Game:
New York Giants plus 3 at the San Francisco 49ers, Tuesday 1:15am (i.e. early Tuesday morning, 13 November)
