World Grand Prix Darts 2018, Round 2

Michael van Gerwen is fancied for another Premier League win.

The World Grand Prix of Darts 2018 is upon us and we’re already well in to the action at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin.

The £400,000 tournament, which is unique for the format which sees the players needing to both begin and end each leg with a double.

Tuesday night sees the start of round two.

Second Round

Tuesday October 2nd

(7:15pm) 6/5 Dave Chisnall v Raymond van Barneveld  4/6 (Prediction – Dave Chisnall: Chizzy was impressive in his first round win over Max Hopp. Barney was under pressure in parts of his win over Rick Evans and took out an impressive 164 under pressure to get back in control of that game. On first round performances it’s a Chizzy win in this one for me)

(8:15pm) 4/11 Daryl Gurney v Ron Meulenkamp 2/1 (Prediction – Ron Meulenkamp: Both players were very impressive on their opening doubles in the first round, with Meulenkamp finding his Double 20’s just as easy as Gurney was on his preferred Double 16’s. It was impressive from Ron “The Bomb” playing as well as he did in beating Joe Cullen. Meulenkamp is fancied to continue that superb form and claim another big scalp by taking out the reigning champion in this match)

(8pm) 1/7 Michael van Gerwen v Darren Webster 9/2 (Prediction – Michael van Gerwen: The World No.1 easily brushed aside homeboy Steve Lennon in the opening round. Darren Webster was just as impressive in demolishing Stephen Bunting. MVG is slowly coming back to form and may be too strong for The Demolition Man over the longer format)

(8:30pm) 4/11 Gary Anderson v Jeffrey de Zwaan 2/1 (Prediction –Gary Anderson: Both won impressively in round one with Gary Anderson losing the first leg to Jonny Clayton before reeling off six consecutive legs for an easy win. Jeffrey de Zwaan was a convincing 2-0 winner over Kim Huybrechts in his opener. He hit four 180’s and ended the match with a very impressive 50% on the doubles. But Gary Anderson is hungry to win this tournament for the first time and is strongly fancied to progress from what should be a high class encounter)
